Home Minister Seeks Japanese Support for Police Reform
This appeal was made during a courtesy meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Saeda Shinichi, at the Secretariat on Tuesday morning, March 3, 2026. The Minister described Japan as a "tested friend" and one of Bangladesh's largest development partners, noting that Japan already possesses significant experience in the country through major projects like the Dhaka Metro Rail and the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's Third Terminal.
During the discussion, the Minister specifically highlighted the successful collaboration between the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Japanese experts on traffic safety initiatives. He indicated that Japan is expected to submit specific proposals in the future regarding the comprehensive reorganization of the police force. The meeting also covered broader bilateral security issues, including traffic control and the protection of business interests, which are vital for maintaining a stable investment climate.
