Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Urges Coast Guard to Maintain Maximum Readiness

The directive was issued on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, during a courtesy meeting with the Director General of the Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Md. Ziaul Haque, held at the Cabinet Division of the Prime Minister’s Office in the Secretariat. During the meeting, the Prime Minister lauded the force's professionalism as the "sentinels of the sea" and reaffirmed his government's commitment to the continuous modernization and development of the maritime force.

According to Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, the Prime Minister specifically highlighted the Coast Guard's critical role in maintaining law and order in coastal regions and their dedicated efforts in disaster management. Prime Minister Rahman expressed satisfaction after being briefed on the force's ongoing developmental activities and tactical upgrades. He emphasized that the process of enhancing the Coast Guard's capabilities will remain a priority to ensure the security of the country's maritime boundaries and to effectively tackle any emerging regional challenges.

The meeting underscores the government's focus on maritime security during a period of heightened regional tension. By encouraging the Coast Guard to stay vigilant, the Prime Minister signaled that protecting Bangladesh's blue economy and territorial waters is central to the national security agenda.
