The directive was issued during a meeting with Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon, March 2, 2026. According to Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to reactivate and expand "Women Only" bus services to specifically assist female professionals and students who face significant challenges in the current public transport system.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed the overall condition of the country's road transport infrastructure and provided instructions to reduce public suffering. This initiative is being viewed as a major step toward enhancing female security and accessibility in Dhaka’s busy transit corridors. The Ministry of Road Transport is expected to coordinate with the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) to finalize the routes and the number of dedicated vehicles required to meet the demand.

In a separate administrative instruction, the Prime Minister also met with the Minister for Housing and Public Works to discuss the renovation of the mausoleum of the late President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. He directed the relevant departments to complete the development and renovation work before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. The goal is to finish the project as quickly as possible so that the site can be reopened to visitors and the general public in a modernized and respectful manner.
