PM Tarique Rahman Directs Mobilization of 100,000 Volunteers to Tackle Earthquake Risks
Asadul Habib Dulu, the Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, shared this significant decision with journalists following a courtesy meeting with the Prime Minister on Sunday. He noted that the Prime Minister issued specific instructions to pre-identify all playgrounds and schools in the capital to serve as immediate shelters following a seismic event.
Furthermore, the head of government urged the ministry to take necessary initiatives to increase public awareness, aiming to reduce the loss of life and property during such disasters. The Relief Minister added that another high-level meeting with the Prime Minister will be held on March 11 to finalize the primary action plan for this crisis. The government's proactive preparation for natural disasters and internal security—alongside the ongoing regional tensions in the Middle East—is being viewed with significant importance.
