PM Tarique Rahman to Attend Jamaat-e-Islami's Iftar Party Today
The event will take place at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC)—formerly known as the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center—in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.
The invitation was formally extended on February 25, when a Jamaat delegation, led by Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar and Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, met the Prime Minister at his office in the Secretariat. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami and current Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, also personally requested the Prime Minister over the phone to attend the gathering with his family.
The Iftar party, scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM, is expected to bring together a wide array of attendees, including top political leaders, intellectuals, journalists, and religious scholars. Given the current political landscape following the 13th National Parliamentary Election, this meeting between the heads of the ruling party and the main opposition is being viewed as a significant moment for national political unity.
