Mirza Fakhrul: Pilkhana Massacre Was a Conspiracy to Destroy National Security
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday morning, February 25, 2026, he described the 2009 massacre as a deep-seated conspiracy designed to shatter the morale of the Bangladesh Army. He emphasized that the killing of 57 talented and high-ranking officers in a single event was an unprecedented blow to the country's defense infrastructure.
Reflecting on the historical significance of the day, Mirza Fakhrul characterized the mutiny as a "shameful and stigmatized" chapter in the nation's history. He asserted that the ultimate objective of the plotters was to destabilize the overall security framework of Bangladesh. However, he noted that despite such a severe assault, the people and the armed forces have shown remarkable resilience in standing back up to protect the nation's independence, sovereignty, and democratic values.
After offering floral wreaths at the graves of the martyrs, the Minister expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved families. He reiterated the government's commitment to a more transparent and thorough investigation into the events of February 25, 2009, to ensure that the true architects of the conspiracy are brought to justice. He concluded his address by urging all citizens to remain united on matters of national security to prevent any such tragedies from recurring in the future.
