Three Categories of Citizens to Receive Priority Family Cards: Social Welfare Minister

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inaugurate the distribution program in 14 districts on March 10. Describing it as a "universal card," the Minister stated that eventually, all citizens will be brought under this social safety net, with the entire project aimed for completion within four years.

The Minister further explained that beneficiary data will be stored digitally via specialized software, allowing recipients to withdraw funds through their preferred banks under the supervision of Bangladesh Bank. Addressing reports of fraudulent activities regarding Family Cards in areas like Korail slum and Mymensingh, Dr. Zahid warned of stern legal action against any scammers. Information collection is currently underway at the union level both online and offline. He emphasized that no personal recommendations or lobbying (Tadbir) are required to obtain the card, as the process is designed to be transparent and merit-based.
