Sarwar Alam Reappointed as Press Secretary to the President

To assume this role, he must relinquish all other professional or business affiliations. Interestingly, he was previously appointed to this same position under President Mohammed Shahabuddin in December 2024 but was removed after the interim government took office. This latest notification marks his formal return to the post.

A seasoned officer of the BCS 85 Information Cadre, Sarwar Alam has an extensive career background. He notably served as the Deputy Press Secretary to former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. Throughout his tenure, he also held key positions such as the Secretary (Public Relations) of BTRC, Executive Director of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), and Director of BRTA. He went on post-retirement leave (PRL) in February 2022 while serving at BRTA.
