Who is Ali Hossain Fakir, the Newly Appointed IGP of Bangladesh Police?
Born in Bagerhat in 1968, Ali Hossain Fakir joined the force in 1995 through the 15th BCS. His career saw a dramatic turn when he was sent into forced retirement in 2022 due to political allegations. However, following the fall of the previous regime on August 5, 2024, he was reinstated and promoted to Additional IGP.
Throughout his career, he served as SP of Netrokona, Feni, and Magura, and held key positions in DMP and UN peacekeeping missions. An alumnus of Dhaka University, he is currently the acting president of the Police Service Association. His wife is a professor at Government Titumir College, and both of their children are pursuing engineering at KUET and BUET.
