Action Taken Against 4 Policemen for Assaulting DU Students & Journalists

On Tuesday (February 24), ADC Mir Asaduzzaman of the Ramna Zone confirmed the matter, stating that departmental action is being initiated against the four individuals responsible for the "unfortunate incident." He added, however, that the anti-drug operations would continue.

The move comes after viral footage from Monday night showed police, led by Ramna DC Masud Alam, beating innocent bystanders and journalists covering the drive. In protest, DU students surrounded the Shahbagh Police Station on Tuesday afternoon, demanding exemplary punishment for DC Masud Alam and the involved constables within 24 hours. The protesters also urged an end to public harassment in the name of anti-drug operations.
