Starting March 3, 2026, passengers can purchase tickets online, as confirmed in a press release issued by the railway authorities on Tuesday, February 24. With Eid-ul-Fitr expected to fall on or around March 20, the ten-day advance booking system aims to manage the holiday rush efficiently.

The ticketing process will be divided into two shifts to reduce server congestion on the official website and mobile app. Tickets for trains operating in the Western Zone will go on sale starting at 8:00 AM daily, while tickets for the Eastern Zone will be available from 2:00 PM. This regional time-splitting strategy has been retained from previous years to provide a better user experience for the millions of travelers attempting to secure seats simultaneously. Following the departure phase, sales for return journey tickets are scheduled to begin on March 23.

In a continued effort to prevent ticket black-marketing and reduce physical queues at stations, Bangladesh Railway will maintain its policy of selling 100% of intercity tickets exclusively online. To accommodate the massive influx of passengers, the authorities have also planned to operate five pairs of special trains, totaling 20 additional services across various popular routes. Passengers are advised to complete their registration on the railway’s e-ticketing portal in advance to ensure a faster checkout process once the sales go live.
