Bobby Hajjaj Announces New Security Measures to Combat Crime in Mohammadpur
Speaking to journalists on Sunday morning, February 22, 2026, at the Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, Hajjaj outlined his plans while visiting supporters who were injured during clashes in the February 12 general election. He emphasized that ensuring the safety of residents in his constituency, Dhaka-13, is a top priority for the new administration.
Recognizing the current absence of army camps in Mohammadpur, the State Minister highlighted the need to significantly bolster the police force's capabilities. His plan includes the establishment of a new police camp in Bosila, the creation of 20 additional police boxes, and an increase in the number of patrol vehicles across the neighborhood. These measures are designed to provide a more visible and proactive security presence, addressing the rise in "teen gang" activities and drug-related crimes that have troubled the area in recent months. Hajjaj, who won the seat as a BNP candidate following the landslide victory of the Tarique Rahman-led government, reaffirmed his election pledge of a "zero-tolerance" policy against extortion and terrorism.
During his hospital visit, the State Minister also addressed the violence that occurred on the day of the national election, alleging that opponents attempted to seize polling centers and assaulted his workers. He stated firmly that these acts of aggression would not go unpunished and promised to ensure legal justice for every injured activist. Despite ongoing political debates following the first "Gen Z-inspired" election since the 2024 uprising, Hajjaj maintained that he remains focused on governance and transforming the education sector into a "prime investment" for nation-building.
