The statement came during a courtesy call from the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dr. Abdullah Zafer Bin Abiyah, at the Prime Minister’s office in the Bangladesh Secretariat at 11:00 AM. During the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated the Prime Minister on his new role and assured him of the Saudi government’s continued and unwavering support across various sectors of cooperation.

Earlier that morning, at 9:05 AM, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially began his first day of work at the Cabinet Division in the Secretariat, where he was warmly welcomed by Principal Secretary A.B.M. Abdus Sattar. The high-level meeting with the Saudi envoy was one of his first official diplomatic engagements since being sworn in as the 11th Prime Minister on February 17, following a landslide victory in the 13th parliamentary elections. The discussions focused on deepening bilateral interests, strengthening economic ties, and enhancing cooperation in manpower and development projects.

The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and the Prime Minister’s Adviser Humayun Kabir. Diplomatic observers view this early formal engagement with a key development partner like Saudi Arabia as a strong signal of the new administration’s intent to fortify Bangladesh's international standing and secure strategic alliances. The Prime Minister’s admiration for the "Saudi Vision 2030" and his plans for an early official visit to the Kingdom further underscore the priority placed on this historical partnership.
