Probe Committee Formed Over Allegations Against BSS MD

According to an official statement issued thursday , the committee has been tasked with reviewing the allegations published in various media outlets in a transparent and impartial manner.

An Additional Secretary (Grade-1) of the ministry will serve as the committee’s chair, while a Senior Assistant Secretary (Press-1) will act as member secretary. The Chief Information Officer and the Director General of the Department of Mass Communication have also been included as members.

The order states that the committee will examine the allegations in detail, hear statements from relevant individuals, and conduct necessary inquiries. It has been instructed to submit a full report with recommendations by February 25.

Earlier, on Wednesday, a group of journalists and employees staged a protest at the BSS office in Paltan, declaring the MD “unwanted.” Amid the demonstrations, Mahbub left the office.

Following the 2024 mass uprising that led to the fall of the Awami League government, the interim administration appointed him as MD and Chief Editor of BSS on August 18, 2024, for a two-year term.
