On Thursday, February 19, 2026, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, inaugurated the program at the Livestock Research Institute in Mohakhali. Under the directive of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, this program aims to provide essential items to over one million families across the country throughout the month of Ramadan.

The government has fixed beef at Tk 650 per kg, milk at Tk 80 per liter, and eggs at Tk 96 per dozen. These sales are initially being conducted at 25 key locations in the capital, including Uttara, Mirpur, and Azimpur, and will gradually be expanded nationwide. During the inauguration, Minister Tuku emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to dismantle market syndicates and ease the financial burden on the public.

Furthermore, the Minister announced that the government is moving forward with its electoral pledges to introduce Family Cards, Agriculture Cards, and Health Cards. A high-level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister is scheduled for this afternoon to finalize the implementation of these welfare measures. The program is expected to continue for 26 days of Ramadan to ensure nutritional security for the underprivileged during the fasting month.
