Chief Adviser GOB Official Facebook Page to Close as Transition Completes
The decision follows the formal departure of the outgoing Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, and the swearing-in of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman as the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh yesterday. A final message was posted on the page in both Bengali and English to confirm the deactivation.
The farewell post stated, “The official page of the Chief Adviser of the interim government will no longer be active.” The message expressed deep gratitude to its followers and the general public who engaged with the platform over the past 18 months. “We sincerely thank everyone for their support, interest, and participation. Your support, cooperation, and constructive criticism have made this journey more valuable and enriched,” the statement added.
The 'Chief Adviser GOB' page was launched on August 14, 2024, following the formation of the interim government in the wake of the student-led mass uprising. Over its tenure, the page amassed more than 4.4 million followers, serving as the primary digital hub for government announcements and reform updates. With the successful completion of the national election and referendum on February 12, and the subsequent handover of power, the interim administration’s digital presence is being phased out to make way for the official communication platforms of the newly elected Prime Minister.
