Opposition Leadership Formed in the 13th Parliament

Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher will serve as Deputy Leader of the Opposition, while Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizens Party (NCP), will take the role of Chief Whip of the opposition.

Earlier, the MPs from Jamaat and their allied parties took their oaths before Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin at the Secretariat.

Prior to the oath-taking, there was some uncertainty regarding the constitutional reform issue. Jamaat had stated that none of their MPs would be sworn in if BNP members did not take the oath in the Reform Council. After an emergency meeting, the party decided to proceed with the oath-taking.
