In a press release issued on Monday, TIB clarified that data presented at a press conference marking the release of its report titled “Observation of the 13th National Parliamentary Election Process and Affidavits” has been misrepresented in parts of the media.

According to TIB, its field research—conducted using a random sampling method across 70 selected constituencies—found incidents of one or more fake votes in 21.4 percent of those constituencies. However, interpreting this figure to mean that 21.4 percent of all votes cast in the entire election were fake is completely incorrect and baseless.

The organization has requested media outlets that have already published or broadcast the misinterpretation to issue prompt corrections. Otherwise, such reporting may be considered deliberate misinformation, the statement added.
