Earlier, educational institutions across the country—including schools, colleges, and madrasas—remained closed for five consecutive days due to the 13th National Parliamentary Election and successive religious holidays. Institutions are set to reopen on Monday following this break. Schools were closed on February 11 and 12 for the election, followed by the weekly holidays on February 13 and 14, and an additional closure on February 15 for Shivaratri observance.

At the beginning of February, classes were also suspended on the occasions of Maghi Purnima and Shab-e-Barat.

According to the annual academic calendar, educational institutions are scheduled to observe a total of 64 holidays this year. Initially, schools were expected to remain closed for 19 consecutive days from March 8, considering Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Jumatul Bida, and Independence Day. However, following the High Court’s directive, the vacation for secondary and lower secondary levels will now commence on February 18. Academic activities are set to resume on March 29 after the extended break.

Additionally, a 12-day holiday combining Eid-ul-Azha and the summer vacation will be observed from May 24 to June 4, including weekly holidays.

Five days have been allocated for Durga Puja this year. There will also be one-day holidays for Lakshmi Puja, Probarona Purnima, and Fateha-e-Yazdaham. Institution heads will retain two reserved discretionary leave days. Other national, international, and religious observances will be followed as per the official holiday schedule.
