Chief Adviser Thanks Nation for Peaceful Parliamentary Election and Referendum
The information was disclosed on Thursday (12 February) by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing. After voting concluded at 4:30pm nationwide, Prof. Yunus said the enthusiastic participation of voters, responsible conduct of political parties, restraint shown by candidates and professionalism of the institutions involved reflected the country’s firm commitment to democracy.
He extended special thanks to the Election Commission, law enforcement agencies, the armed forces, civil administration, election observers, media professionals and all officials engaged in the electoral process, noting that their dedication ensured the successful completion of this large-scale democratic exercise.
The Chief Adviser also urged political parties and candidates to uphold democratic norms, tolerance and mutual respect even after the final results are announced. While differences of opinion are natural, he stressed the importance of unity in the national interest.
Reaffirming that the people are the ultimate source of power, he pledged to move forward collectively toward building an accountable, inclusive and justice-based state.
Describing the polls as a joyful and festive occasion, Prof. Yunus said the election marked the beginning of a new chapter for Bangladesh and expressed hope that sustaining such a democratic spirit would further strengthen the country’s democratic progress.
