Attempt to rig votes or seize centres will invite action: RAB chief

He made the remarks at a press briefing on Wednesday (February 11) after inspecting two high-risk polling centres in the capital—Lalmatia Mohila College and Capital High School—ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

During the visit, the RAB chief urged on-duty officials to carry out their responsibilities without fear.

Authorities have implemented heightened security measures across Dhaka to ensure a smooth election and referendum process. Robust and foot patrols have been intensified at key intersections, and multiple checkpoints have been set up across the city.

Law enforcement agencies stated that although no specific security threat has been identified, maximum vigilance is being maintained to prevent any undue influence by criminals or miscreants.

BGB, police, and other forces are patrolling major roads and alleyways, with APC-backed convoys conducting visible security drives. The army remains on standby.

In line with Election Commission directives, restrictions on motorcycles and private vehicles are being enforced. Vehicles without valid reasons for movement are being seized, while searches are ongoing to prevent the transport of explosives and firearms.
