Chief Adviser to Address Nation This Evening
A message from the Chief Adviser's Press Wing confirmed the schedule. The address comes ahead of the national election and the constitutional referendum on the "July National Charter," both scheduled for February 12.
On Thursday, February 12, Bangladesh will simultaneously hold the parliamentary election and a national referendum aimed at implementing the spirit of the July Uprising through the "July National Charter." At this critical juncture, the Chief Adviser is expected to outline the government's stance, final preparations, and foolproof security measures. He is also anticipated to provide directives on the significance of the "Yes" or "No" vote in the referendum, explaining how it serves as a mechanism to permanently block the path of autocracy in the future.
The Chief Adviser’s address will be broadcast live at 7:00 PM on:
-
Television: Bangladesh Television (BTV), BTV World, and all private television channels.
-
Radio: Bangladesh Betar and all private radio stations.
-
Online: The official Facebook page and YouTube channel of the Chief Adviser.
In a meeting with secretaries yesterday, Dr. Yunus remarked that a "Yes" vote in the referendum would transform the country and ensure that misrule never returns. In today’s speech, he is likely to urge voters to cast their ballots without fear and may emphasize the inclusion of expatriates in the direct political process.
