IGP Warns of Constituency-Wide Suspension Over Unrest

He emphasized that any attempt to obstruct the election would be met with an iron fist, noting that all forces, including army striking units, are on high alert. The IGP viewed this election as a critical opportunity for the police to regain public trust.

A three-tier security blanket has been established to ensure foolproof safety on election day. In addition to station-based guards, mobile teams and striking forces will maintain constant patrols. A total of 187,603 police personnel are deployed on the ground, forming a coordinated security apparatus alongside the Army, Navy, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and Ansar. Notably, officers who played controversial roles in previous elections have been excluded from election duties to ensure the force's neutrality remains beyond reproach.

Regarding technological surveillance, the IGP confirmed that CCTV cameras have been installed in 90% of polling centers nationwide. Extra precautions will be taken at high-risk centers, including aerial drone monitoring and police officers equipped with body-worn cameras. Furthermore, a nationwide special operation has resulted in the recovery and deposit of 27,995 licensed firearms ahead of the polls. IGP Baharul Alam reassured voters that the law and order situation is fully under control and that the police are performing their duties with the utmost professionalism to deliver a free and fair election.
