According to a statement released on the Chief Adviser’s official Facebook page today, the government has sent a "Note Verbale" to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), requesting technical and institutional support for the investigation.

Acting on instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh in Geneva delivered the formal letter to the UN office on February 6. The government underscored its commitment to ensuring maximum transparency and accountability in the probe. By involving the OHCHR, the administration aims to ensure that the investigation adheres to international human rights standards, facilitating the identification and prosecution of the actual perpetrators.

The Bangladesh Mission in Geneva further noted that they are awaiting a response from the UN Human Rights Office and will promptly inform the government of any developments. Sharif Osman Hadi’s death had triggered widespread mourning and public outrage across the country. Government officials believe that this collaboration with the United Nations marks a significant step toward ensuring a fair and impartial trial for one of the most prominent organizers of the 2024 uprising.
