The assembly, which began at 3:00 PM, served as the formal launch of an ‘India Out’ campaign, with protesters calling for a boycott of Indian products and a rejection of Indian influence in Bangladesh’s internal affairs.

The protest centers on allegations of Indian interference in the upcoming February 12 national election and the 2024 July-August uprising. Organizers expressed outrage over reports that the killers of Sharif Osman Hadi, the former spokesperson of Inqilab Monch and a prominent figure in the July Revolution, have been granted asylum in India. Hadi died in late December 2025 after being shot during an election campaign in Dhaka, an incident that has significantly strained diplomatic ties between Dhaka and New Delhi.

During the rally, speakers condemned India's perceived support for the "fascist" Awami League and accused the neighboring country of working through "proxies" to destabilize the current transition. The platform also criticized India’s dominance in international forums, claiming it consistently acts against Bangladeshi interests.

Following the assembly, the protesters began a march through the capital's major thoroughfares. The procession is set to conclude at 'Shaheed Osman Hadi Square' (formerly Shahbagh), symbolizing their commitment to the legacy of the 2024 uprising. The demonstration comes amid a highly charged pre-election atmosphere, with security forces, including the army and BGB, on high alert across Dhaka.
