Clashes Erupt Between Police and Inqilab Mancha at Shahbagh; Over 50 Injured

The unrest began around 7:30 PM when protesters reportedly chased a police unit while chanting slogans. In response, police reinforcements arrived and launched a crackdown. Although the activists were initially scattered toward Dhaka University and Katabon areas, they reoccupied the Shahbagh crossing after police withdrew around 8:45 PM.

Medical sources confirm that more than 50 people, including Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber and DU spokesperson Fatima Tasnim Juma, sustained injuries during the scuffle. Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman, Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, stated that while no gunshot wounds were reported, most patients suffered from blunt force trauma and lacerations. They are currently receiving treatment at the emergency department.
