In a statement sent to the media on Friday evening, DUCSU expressed deep concern over the incident and demanded that those responsible be brought to justice without delay.

The statement noted that there has been no visible progress in the investigation or trial of Osman Hadi’s killing so far. As a result, Inqilab Mancha leaders and activists, along with the victim’s wife and general citizens, have been continuing their movement since Thursday demanding justice. DUCSU stated that the use of force and attacks by law enforcement agencies on the protesters are completely unacceptable.

DUCSU urged the government to engage in dialogue with the protesters and address their legitimate demands. It also called for accountability and punishment for those involved in what it described as a brutal crackdown on the demonstrators.

The student body further demanded a swift, impartial, and transparent trial of the killing of Shaheed Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, clashes erupted between police and Inqilab Mancha activists near the InterContinental Hotel in the capital during a programme demanding justice for Osman Hadi. Police were seen using water cannons, sound grenades, tear gas shells, and batons. As a result, more than fifty people, including Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, were injured.
