Power Handover No Later Than Feb 18: Press Secretary
He shared this information during a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital today, Thursday, following an advisory council meeting chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. The 13th National Parliament election and a referendum on the July National Charter are scheduled for February 12.
The Press Secretary noted, "The handover will happen in the shortest possible time. Once the MPs take their oaths and the leader of the majority party is called to be sworn in as Prime Minister, the process could be finished by February 15 or 16. We don't expect it to go past February 17 or 18."
Regarding the oath-taking ceremony, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul mentioned that the government is considering two options to expedite the process. The oath could be administered either by a person appointed by the President, such as the Chief Justice, or by the Chief Election Commissioner. He emphasized that the government aims to arrange the ceremony immediately after the election results without any unnecessary delay.
