According to the new schedule, offices will operate from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed the decision during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on Thursday afternoon, February 5, 2026.

Under the revised schedule, there will be a 15-minute break from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM for Zuhr prayers. While standard government hours typically run until 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM, the workday has been shortened to accommodate the fasting period. These hours will be effective from the first day of Ramadan, which is expected to begin on or around February 19, 2026, depending on the sighting of the moon.

The new timing does not apply to all sectors. Banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, the Supreme Court, and emergency service providers—such as hospitals, fire services, and utility companies (water, gas, and electricity)—will determine their own office schedules based on their respective regulations and public interest. Regular office hours will resume across all departments once the month of Ramadan concludes.
