Army Chief Issues Strict Directives for Professionalism and Neutrality
He delivered these directives during a view-exchange meeting with senior officials from the Dhaka Metropolitan, divisional, and district administrations, as well as various law enforcement agencies, on Thursday, February 5.
The meeting, held at the conference room of the National Stadium in Gulistan, served as an platform for the Army Chief to evaluate the ongoing "In Aid to the Civil Power" operations. General Waker-Uz-Zaman emphasized that maintaining a peaceful environment and ensuring voter security are essential priorities. He underscored the importance of inter-institutional coordination and a robust security strategy to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
The high-level gathering was attended by the GOC of Army Training and Doctrine Command, the GOC of the 9th Infantry Division, and the Savar Area Commander, along with other senior military officers. Civil administration was represented by the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner and other top-ranking officials, alongside members of the media.
Since January 22, the Army Chief has been conducting a nationwide tour to strengthen inter-service coordination, visiting military areas in Chattogram, Cumilla, Rangpur, Bogura, Barishal, Jashore, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet. These efforts are aimed at facilitating a free, fair, and participatory election, currently scheduled for February 12, 2026.
