Lieutenant General S. M. Kamrul Hassan, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, and His Excellency Iwama Kiminori, the Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, signed the pact on behalf of their respective governments. This strategic partnership is the culmination of consistent diplomatic efforts since 2023 and reflects the visionary foreign policy of Bangladesh's current interim government.

This defense deal is expected to significantly accelerate the modernization of Bangladesh's defense forces. By establishing a formal framework for joint research, development, and the acquisition of advanced military hardware, the agreement aligns with the principles of the UN Charter. Beyond enhancing national sovereignty, the pact is set to deepen strategic ties in South Asia, contributing to regional stability and global security. Experts believe that the increased exchange of military specialists between the two nations will play a vital role in developing Bangladesh’s future defense capabilities and implementing long-term strategic plans.
