She made these remarks as the chief guest at an awareness program on "Prevention of Honking and Noise Pollution" organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) at Shikkha Chattar on Tuesday morning, February 3.

The Environment Adviser noted that the habit of indiscriminate honking among drivers has pushed noise pollution to an alarming level. She stated that strict legal action will be taken against those who honk in designated "Silent Zones" within the capital. Rizwana Hasan emphasized that the current interim government has enacted noise pollution control regulations that are unprecedented in the country’s history, and strict enforcement is key to reducing the menace.

She further mentioned that while the full implementation of Silent Zones will be completed under the upcoming elected government, the current administration is prioritizing fines and penalties to enforce the law immediately. During the event, she urged drivers and the general public to cooperate in building a noise-free Dhaka. Senior DMP officials were present at the program, where drivers were encouraged to exercise restraint and discipline behind the wheel.
