Press Secretary Criticizes Indian Media for Systematic Misinformation Campaigns
Speaking at a policy dialogue titled "Policy Conclave on Misinformation: Challenges to Governance and Democracy" at Dhaka International University (DIU), he pointed out that even prominent publications like Anandabazar Patrika have frequently published fabricated reports.
Alam emphasized that Bangladesh is currently facing a unique challenge that no previous government has encountered in the last 54 years. He noted a significant surge in disinformation over the past 18 months, originating from both local and international sources. According to him, these narratives often falsely depict the nation as unsafe for minorities and claim that democratic rights are being suppressed.
The Press Secretary concluded by stating that such propaganda aims to destabilize the current government and hinder a smooth democratic transition. He urged for vigilance against these narratives to protect the country’s global image and democratic future.
