LPG Prices Surge Again as 12kg Cylinder Hits Tk 1,356
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of a 12kg cylinder by Tk 50, setting the new retail price at Tk 1,356. BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed announced the updated price list during a press conference at the commission’s office on Monday afternoon, February 2. The new rates will come into effect from 6:00 PM today.
According to BERC, the adjustment was made in line with the rising prices in the international market. In January, the price of a 12kg cylinder was Tk 1,306; with the latest hike, consumers will have to spend an additional Tk 50 per cylinder this month. This marks the second consecutive month of price increases, following a Tk 53 hike on January 4.
The price of Autogas, used in vehicles, has also been revised upward. For February, the price per liter of Autogas has been increased by Tk 2.34, bringing it to Tk 62.14 from last month’s Tk 59.80. The commission stated that the hike was inevitable due to the increase in the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP) in the global market. However, the price of LPG provided by the state-owned company will remain unchanged.
