The order was issued on Monday morning, February 2, through a notice signed by EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Didar Hossain. Assistant Returning Officer Md. Ziaur Rahman confirmed the matter, stating that this action was taken due to election campaigning on social media ahead of the legally permitted timeframe.

According to the notice, Taheri sought votes for his electoral symbol, the ‘Candle,’ on January 15 by sharing a video link from a Facebook page named ‘THE SPEECH.’ Under Rule 18 of the Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates in Parliamentary Elections 2025, any form of campaigning more than three weeks before the scheduled polling date is a punishable offense. The notice emphasized that such premature campaigning disrupts the preparation for a free and fair election.

The EC explicitly stated that any future violations of the code of conduct could lead to substantial fines or the final cancellation of his candidacy. Attempts were made to contact Gias Uddin Taheri via telephone for a statement regarding the warning, but he did not respond to multiple calls.
