Acting on a confidential tip-off, RAB members set up a temporary checkpoint in front of the Bismillah Filling Station. Around 3:10 AM, they signaled a Dhaka-bound covered van belonging to SA Poribahan Courier Service to stop. The driver and helper attempted to flee the scene but were chased and apprehended by the elite force. The detainees have been identified as the driver, Md. Akram (35), and his helper, Mohammad Gias Uddin (25).

A thorough search of the vehicle yielded 96,650 pieces of Indian explosives and fireworks. Additionally, a massive cache of 13 different types of smuggled consumer goods, including chocolates, hair oils, henna, cosmetics, and incense sticks, was recovered. The suspects failed to produce any legal documentation or import permits for the cargo.

During primary interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed to being part of an organized smuggling syndicate that has long been evading customs duties by using reputable courier services to transport illegal Indian goods into Bangladesh.

Lieutenant Commander Naeem Ul Haque, Company Commander of RAB-11, confirmed that a regular case has been filed at the Bandar Police Station in Narayanganj. He emphasized that such operations will continue to curb smuggling and the influx of illegal goods into the country.
