500 Foreign and 55,000 Local Observers to Monitor Upcoming Election: EC

Election Commissioner Abul Fazl Md. Sanaullah shared this information during a briefing for foreign diplomats stationed in Dhaka at a city hotel today, Sunday (January 25). He stated that 55,454 observers from 81 registered local organizations have been approved to monitor the polls. Additionally, around 500 foreign journalists and observers are expected to arrive in Bangladesh to oversee the electoral process.

The Commissioner further noted that the EC has already extended invitations to 83 international organizations. A press release issued later in the evening by the EC's Public Relations Director, Ruhul Amin Mallick, confirmed the details of the briefing. The Commission believes that the presence of such a significant number of national and international observers will enhance the transparency and credibility of the election scheduled for February 12. During the session, diplomats were briefed on the overall preparations and security measures taken to ensure a free and fair voting environment. The EC reiterated its commitment to upholding democratic values through a transparent electoral process.
