Feb 11 Declared Public Holiday
Furthermore, a general holiday has been approved for workers and employees in industrial sectors starting from February 10, allowing them to enjoy a consecutive three-day break.
The Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, shared these updates during a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday afternoon, January 22.
"It was previously announced that election day, February 12, would be a public holiday. However, in today’s cabinet meeting, it was decided to declare February 11 as an additional public holiday," Alam stated. "Additionally, a holiday for industrial workers has been approved effective from February 10."
The Press Secretary clarified that this decision means industrial laborers will receive a total of three days off (February 10, 11, and 12). The government’s primary objective is to facilitate voters’ travel to their respective constituencies to exercise their right to vote.
Earlier in the day, the cabinet meeting held detailed discussions regarding voter list updates and election preparations. The administration expressed hope that the extended holiday period would ease travel logistics for the public and ensure a higher voter turnout during the landmark election.
