Administration Seals Off Ex-NTMC Chief Ziaul Ahsan’s Flat in Rupganj
The Operation Details: Led by Executive Magistrate Shahriar Parvez, the administrative team targeted a flat on the 3rd floor of an eight-story building named 'Joyita' located in Sector 12. While Ziaul Ahsan’s specific unit was sealed, other flats in the building were left untouched as they are currently occupied by general tenants.
Legal Actions & Assets Seizure: The action follows a court order issued last year to freeze and seize various properties linked to the dismissed military officer. According to the ACC, Ziaul Ahsan owns multiple houses and flats in Dhaka and Narayanganj, along with a garden house in Barishal. Additionally, several bank accounts containing approximately BDT 1.28 crore and various agricultural lands have been brought under state control.
Corruption Allegations: The ACC filed the case against Ziaul Ahsan and his wife, Nusrat Jahan, on charges of abusing power and accumulating illegal wealth worth over BDT 22.27 crore. Investigations also revealed suspicious transactions totaling BDT 120 crore across eight of his bank accounts. He was formally shown arrested in this case early last year and remains in custody.
