This decision was announced following a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation’s conference room in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Monday evening (January 19). The meeting was presided over by Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain, the Adviser to the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

According to the committee, data collected from all district administrations, the Meteorological Department, and space research institutes confirmed that the crescent moon was not visible this evening. Consequently, the ongoing month of Rajab will complete 30 days tomorrow, Tuesday (January 20), and the month of Shaban will officially begin on Wednesday (January 21). As Shab-e-Barat falls on the 14th night of Shaban, it will be observed on February 3. The following day will be a public holiday in the country.
