Impact of Past Corruption and Money Laundering Still Visible in Economy
He made these remarks while speaking at the ‘SAFA International Conference’ held at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday, January 17. Professionals, accountants, and policymakers from home and abroad participated in the conference.
The Foreign Adviser noted that the impact of past corruption and money laundering remains visible in the economy today. However, he expressed optimism that future generations of professionals will play a vital role in economic recovery through honesty, accountability, and innovative thinking. He also commented that trust in the economic system could be restored if ethics and transparency are ensured.
Md. Touhid Hossain further added that in the current global context, economic and political instability is not a problem for a single country alone. Mutual cooperation among South Asian countries is essential to tackle climate change, technological transformation, and geopolitical tensions. To this end, he called for integrated initiatives among regional nations.
The theme of this year's conference was: ‘Next Generation Professionals: Converging Ethical AI and Sustainability Reporting.’ The discussions emphasized the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, sustainable development, and the role of future professionals.
