This election is being considered significant not only to the people of the country but also to the international community. Its importance has further increased as the issues of a referendum and state reform are tied to this election.

He made these remarks as the chief guest during the inauguration of the ‘Vote Vehicle’ (Voter Gari), a campaign program in favor of the referendum, held on Friday evening, January 16, in front of the Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner's office.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said, "Many elections have been held in the country in the past, but the government is as committed to the transparency and acceptability of this election as foreigners are deeply observant of it." He added that there is no scope for the general public in rural areas to remain unaware of the referendum. The government is conducting extensive campaigning to encourage everyone to vote 'Yes' in the referendum.

He further noted that political parties in power in the past often carried out reforms unilaterally. However, this time, priority is being given to public opinion. Regardless of which party comes to power, the decisions regarding reforms must be implemented through public participation. For this reason, he urged everyone to cast a 'Yes' vote in the referendum.

The Finance Adviser stated that this election is set to be a significant chapter in the history of Bangladesh. Mentioning that the 'July Revolution' took place for the country’s progress, he said the future roadmap of the nation would be determined through this election and referendum.

The event was presided over by the Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner, Dr. A.N.M. Bazlur Rashid, with Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid and senior officials from various ministries attending as special guests.
