The device's standout feature is its "Diabetes Risk Assessment," which uses advanced Photoplethysmography (PPG) and biometric sensors to identify potential signs of diabetes or prediabetes without the need for needles or traditional blood draws. This innovation aims to provide an early-warning system for the millions globally who remain undiagnosed.

The technology works by analyzing subtle physiological markers over a period of 3 to 14 days. By monitoring blood flow patterns—known as "waveforms"—alongside resting heart rate, sleep quality, and heart rate variability, the watch's specialized algorithm detects metabolic trends that correlate with high blood sugar levels. Upon gathering sufficient data, the watch categorizes the user's condition into three simplified levels: Low Risk, Medium Risk, or High Risk.

Huawei has emphasized that this feature is a screening tool designed for awareness and prevention, rather than a clinical diagnosis. The company collaborated with experts from Mohammed Bin Rashid University in Dubai to validate the study with 150 volunteers, ensuring the algorithm's reliability in identifying risk patterns. This "needle-free" approach is particularly valuable for asymptomatic individuals, prompting those in the medium or high-risk categories to seek professional medical consultation and formal lab testing.

Beyond its health capabilities, the Watch GT 6 Pro features a premium aerospace-grade titanium alloy body, a sapphire glass display, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, making it highly visible even in direct sunlight. The feature is currently rolling out globally via an over-the-air (OTA) update for Watch GT 6 Pro users, with plans to expand the service to additional Huawei smartwatch models in the near future.
