Eid Security: DMP Commissioner Orders Crackdown on Snatchers and Gangs
Presiding over a monthly crime review meeting at the DMP Headquarters on Thursday (May 7), the Commissioner directed senior officers to launch intensified drives against organized crime rings, including counterfeit money syndicates, "Ogyan" parties (dope gangs), and snatchers. He emphasized that police presence must be felt across the city to prevent any criminal activities during the festive season.
The Commissioner also highlighted the importance of smooth traffic management, particularly around cattle markets, to ensure they do not cause public suffering. He called for increased surveillance at bus terminals, launch ghats, and railway stations, alongside strengthening foot patrols in residential areas. During the meeting, high-achieving officers were rewarded for their performance in April, while a renewed focus was placed on drug recovery and the execution of arrest warrants to keep the city stabilized.
