The incident occurred late Wednesday night, April 22, 2026, at approximately 11:30 PM in the Hatirdera area of Ward No. 6 under Tongkabati Union. According to police and local sources, a group of armed terrorists stormed the plantation while the workers were on duty and forcibly took them to an unknown location.

The abducted workers have been identified as Md. Ismail, Md. Arafat, Md. Shafiq, Md. Nurul Afsar, Md. Kalimullah, and Md. Ramit. Preliminary reports indicate that all the victims are residents of Lama Upazila in Bandarban. Immediately following the abduction, the plantation owner and local residents alerted law enforcement agencies. The incident has triggered widespread panic in the area, leaving other plantation workers feeling deeply insecure about their safety.

Bandarban Additional Superintendent of Police, Md. Farhad Sardar, confirmed the abduction and stated that police and relevant security forces launched a rescue operation shortly after receiving the news. He noted that due to the remote and rugged mountainous terrain, the search teams are exercising special caution. While the rescue efforts are ongoing, authorities have yet to confirm which specific terrorist group is responsible for the abduction. This surge in regional instability mirrors the security challenges often addressed by specialized tactical units in NATO-member and other high-security global zones.
