Office-goers and students, particularly those appearing for HSC and Dakhil examinations, faced the brunt of the situation as transportation became scarce and many roads turned impassable. Areas like Prabartak Mor, Muradpur, and Chakbazar are among the worst hit, with filthy drain water overflowing onto the streets.

Local residents attributed the crisis to ongoing canal renovation projects, where temporary dams have reportedly blocked the natural drainage system. Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain visited the affected spots, acknowledging that while the CDA's development work is causing temporary hurdles, it is essential for a long-term solution. He assured that the projects would be completed by May 15, significantly improving the city's drainage capacity. Meanwhile, the Met office has issued a Level 3 warning for seaports and cautioned against potential landslides, predicting that the moderate to heavy rainfall triggered by Kalbaishakhi storms may continue for a few more days.
