Massive Fire Breaks Out at Chittagong Cold Storage; 8 Units Battling the Blaze
The blaze, which began shortly after midday, rapidly intensified, engulfing the entire warehouse and sending thick plumes of black smoke into the surrounding industrial zone.
Eight units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence were dispatched to the scene immediately upon receiving the alarm. Fire officials reported that the intensity of the flames made it difficult for responders to gain control, requiring additional units to be called in from nearby stations. The storage facility, packed with flammable materials and insulation, fueled the rapid spread of the fire across the structure.
Rescue teams are currently investigating whether any workers were trapped inside the building when the fire started. While the cause of the fire and the extent of the financial damage are yet to be determined, initial concerns focus on the safety of the plant's personnel and the potential loss of a large quantity of processed seafood. As of the latest update, firefighting operations are still ongoing, and the blaze has not been fully extinguished.
