20 Injured as Passenger Bus Overturns in Rangamati During Eid Return Rush
The bus was traveling from Naniarchar toward Chattogram, carrying workers returning to their workplaces after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
According to witnesses and passengers—most of whom are employees of various garment factories in Chattogram—the reserved bus was navigating a risky, steep slope in the hilly Sapchari area when the driver lost control. The vehicle reportedly slammed into the side of a hill before flipping over on the road. The driver and his assistant fled the scene immediately following the crash.
Local residents and members of the Fire Service and Civil Defense conducted a swift rescue operation, transporting the injured to Rangamati General Hospital. Dr. Shawkat Akbar, the hospital’s Resident Medical Officer (RMO), confirmed that 10 individuals have been admitted for treatment, while eight others were released after receiving primary care. One passenger, currently in critical condition, has been shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for advanced treatment.
