Fatal Clash in Brahmanbaria Leaves One Dead and 40 Injured

The conflict, fueled by a long-standing dispute over local dominance, resulted in the death of one person and left at least 40 others injured.

The deceased has been identified as Akter Mia, a member of the Rahim Talukdar group. According to local sources, the confrontation began early in the morning when members of the Rahim Talukdar group and the Kashem group attacked each other with locally made weapons. The violence escalated rapidly, drawing in dozens of supporters from both sides.

The injured were rushed to Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex and Brahmanbaria General Hospital, with several reported to be in critical condition. Upon receiving news of the riot, a large police contingent was deployed to the area to restore order. Police officials confirmed that Akter Mia’s body has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy, and an investigation is underway to identify and arrest those responsible for the violence. The situation in Goalnagar remains tense, and additional security forces have been stationed in the village to prevent further retaliatory attacks.
