Nilsagar Express Derails in Bogra; 9 Coaches Off Tracks Amid Eid Rush

The accident occurred shortly after the train left Santahar station amid the heavy Eid-ul-Fitr rush. Authorities fear significant casualties as many passengers traveling on the rooftop reportedly fell off when the coaches veered off the tracks.

According to Sub-Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman of Santahar Railway Police, the train had a scheduled stop at 2:00 PM before the derailment. While no deaths have been officially confirmed yet, rescue operations are underway to clear the tracks and assist the injured. Local sources suggest that the excessive number of rooftop passengers has exacerbated the risk of injuries during the incident.
